The Hopatcong School District is fortunate to have a full day general education preschool program that is of no cost to the community. We are thankful to receive funding from the New Jersey State Department of Education so that this can be offered to our families. The number of seats available is not determined by the school district, it is determined by the New Jersey Department of Education. Therefore, space is limited and is on a first-come first-serve basis.
Preschool programs are offered at Durban Avenue School, First Impressions Lake Hopatcong, First Impressions Linden Avenue, First Impressions Stanhope, and Head Start Hopatcong (Head Start Hopatcong is available to families who are financially eligible and this program may offer additional services to those that qualify). Children who are three or four years old before October 1, 2025 and reside in Hopatcong are eligible for the 2025-2026 school year program. The location/site that a child attends is based on parent choice and availability.
Online registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin on Monday March 17, 2025. In order for a child to be fully registered and have their spot reserved, online registration https://www.hopatcongschools.org/p/home/registration/ along with submission of required documentation is necessary. The following is the documentation that is required: completed Physical History Form, Proof of Immunization, two Proofs of Residency, and the child's original Birth Certificate. This documentation must be provided to Michelle Zammito at the Hopatcong Borough Schools District Offices at 2 Windsor Ave in order for one’s registration to be completed.
If your child is already enrolled with the Hopatcong School District in the full day general education preschool program for the 2024-2025 school year, there is no need to register again for the 2025-2026 school year. Your child will automatically be included in the program for the upcoming school year.
NOTE: If you have a child that turned 3 years old before October 1, 2024 and you are interested in placing your child in the program now during the 2024-2025 school year, please contact Michelle Zammito at 973-770-8822. There are still a few spaces open at select locations.
